Due to demands presented by a technologically advancing world, older methods of records preservation are proving to be increasingly limited in their capacity to preserve and provide ease of access to records. Digitisation has been identified as a method that would be able to simplify and meet the task of records preservation and providing ease of access that is not limited by geographical location.
Digitisation can be defined as a process in which manual records are converted into digital format(s), therefore establishing channels for further preservation of records and provision of access to information through technological means.
